Dude, do you really think he had no control over wether or not to make it in into a movie? And most books made into movies actualy suck ass.
So im speaking from expirance here kid.
Look at what they did to Eragorn. The book wasnt too shabby but the movie pretty much sucked balls. Dont expect me to shut up about this eather. Yeah i know DB Shan isnt such a bad auther, not too shabby compared to most teen authers. But he needs a fuckin smack on the head and so dose anyone else that expects this kind of movie to be any good with John. C. Reilly playing a majour role. He is a comedy actor, playing a role like Crepsley is entirely wrong for him. No offence to him or anything, I particularly liked him in Taladega nights and step brothers, but this kinda thing is definatly way to out there for him. |

Not all books made into movies but the majority. And yes LOTR was pretty good. And yeah ya make a good point, and I aint bashin eather. Im stating my
oppinion in my own way. Yeah maybe he`ll surprise me and make a great Crepsley, i dont know. But until then I will continue saying he is

authors have LITTLE control over the filming, and LITTLE in the script. when HP was made into a movie, JK Rowling helped adapt it, and hung around to help it
being made and be a consultant. Darren pretty much does that, i would guess. Its not like the author can direct! just wait until the movie comes out, THEN
complain. if it sucks, we can all band together and raise BLOODY HELL, but until then SHUT YOUR TRAP!

An Authour can choose to be as involved as he/she want's to be. But in this case Daren chose not to be closely involved. What's done is done, the film
is finsished and we're just waiting for it to come out now..

i think that riely will be quite good, he's quite funny (and larten does have his moments) and he is quite a good actor. Having not seen the film or a trailer i wont judge on the quality of the film. I dont like how characters have been changed etc. But i'm treating the film as a seperate entity to the books, they just have the same plot line. I think that this way i will enjoy them both instead of sitting through a not bad film moaning saying "thats not right, thats not right blah blah blah". |

Darren has taken the same aproach as Phillip Pullman took. Take the money and run. So don't try and I emphises the TRY to be saracastic about him ( calling him "GREAT" in your first post was proably not a good idea) if he want to let people completly rape his book and turn it into a bad film who give a friggin toss? If you like the books you'll still like the books it just means thry'll be one for B movie in the world. Don't throw your toys out of your pram for it and don't slag a good AUTHOR!!!!!! of for not being the casting agent and director you disire oh fantastic one. None of us know what the film will be like. Only after watching it can we critise ANYONE. Please put more effort into your posts next time. Rant over. |

will be movies. Please do not lash out at Darren. I'm sure he was VERY curious, just like the rest of us, what a Cirque Du Freak movie would ever look
like. You have no idea how many people on here (early fans) DREAMED of a Cirque Du Freak movie. I'm one of them. I actually had a dream of a movie. It was
****ing awesome! I believe you can't go wrong with a Darren Shan story. Any director would want to make this the best movie ever made. Darren's story
telling is just amazing. He needs to be reckonized.
Watch what you're saying on here. If you're going to curse, bleep it out and do not say things like Darren deserves a slap on the head. He's an amazing writer. That's all he is. He's not Steven Spielberg or something. What do you expect from him? Calm down and wait for the movie. If you don't want to see it, you don't have too.

I know what amwired means, I've been waiting for this movie for years. I can also understand that after all the rumors, many people expect the movie to be
very bad. But seriously, even if it is, so what? That would be sad, but I think it's better than never seeing a cdf movie. And you can't just blame it
on Darren. It's actually very nice of him to leave people so much room to interpret his characters and their stories, a lot of authors don't. If you
don't like the movie versions then that's no problem, because they're just the directors interpretation, they're not final.
Just see the movie as a hugely promoted Saga fanfiction or something: You don't have to agree with it, you don't even have to like it, but you should at least watch it before you start flaming it. At least that's what I'll do. |
