Firstly Darren, let me congratulate you on the Demonata series - although it didn't pull at the heart-strings like the Saga did (like when Shancus died)
it did create some great visuals and keep me entriced. The ending was sweet as a nut too - "Coolio" haha not many books can end stories. Infact, at
the end with Bec, Kernal and Grubbs i almost for a second thought you were going to lose it and put "And then it was all a dreaaaam" but you managed
to round it off greatly.
My question for you Darran is about the new movie, the Vampires Assistant. Why? For the love of loss why? I understand the more fan sales, i really do, but... well slapping a mustache on the Mona Lisa may grab more peoples attention but it kind of ruins the art, know what i mean? Cirque Du Freak and Vampires Assistant were gripping, compelling books. One relating to familie issues - having to leave them, losing a friend. The other about overcoming Darrans own inner demons about feeding, having to watch a friend die, losing RV. I loved the books. But the movie... ughh... bad actors, bad re-writes, bad everything. Darran has healing spit now? Well Trials Of Death will be alot easier now. The Spider bites Steve in school? Well so much for Darran learning to play the flute and - after a number of events - leading the spiders against the Vampaneeze. I know, i shouldn't pay this much attention to detail - but the reason i enjoyed your books is because it creates believability out of improbable circumstances. One last moan - Desmond Tiny? A name like Desmond and he looks like Uncle Fester from the Adams Family! The all knowing, all powerful Mr Tiny who is the reason behind Steve and Darrens very creation.... and he asks Darran if he's Steve... and drives... one of the lamest cars known to man. Gavnar calling the council cowards - when in the books they're described as muscley, fearsome leaders.
If you're going to make the rest of your great books into films, Darran, fire the director, fire the actors - hell, fire the woman who prepares the coffee and do'nuts for the crew.
